1st Presentation 12:15pm-1:15pm
David M. Vaughan- ArborVaughan Consult, LLC “Induced Resistance (IR) to Improve Tree Health, Manage Pests, Diseases and Improve Water Retention and Drought Tolerance”
It has been a few years since David has presented at this class and most of us know him as a noted arborist, but he is an avid scientist as well and has been at it again. He will introduce IR and discuss some of the products that are working on trees. The emphasis will be on trees, but the concept works well in all types of gardens and with all plants. This is a new presentation that he has been working on for a while and is debuting just for us! This is one to look forward to as it also ties in water conservation in the process. David is also bringing some new “hands on” demonstration material for us to add to his presentation.
2nd Presentation 1:30pm-2:30pm
Karen Guz- SAWS Director of Water Conservation “Gardener’s Guide to Botany”
Most of us are familiar with Karen and her capacity at SAWS, but for an hour or so, she is going to take off that hat and show that she is a fellow plant lover and gardener at heart who loves to go dig in the dirt as is the rest of her fine Conservation Department just like the rest of us. This is a fun and informative presentation that you will gain new knowledge, insight and have fun in the process. Karen always has a few tricks up her sleeve as well as great tips and things to show in the process.
