Join us for our April Gardening Essentials Class, where we bring you the most knowledgeable gardening educators from South Texas!
This months speakers are:
- Dr. Larry Stein, Regents Fellow, Professor/Extension Horticulturist, began his AgriLife career as Extension Assistant in 1980, attained the rank of professor in 1999, and accepted an additional role in 2012 as associate department head and Extension program leader in horticultural sciences.He has worked to improve crop production, primarily of spinach, pecans, grapes, and citrus, as well as “Texas Superstar®” plants. Dr. Stein has helped producers stay at the forefront of modern agriculture and ahead of constant challenges by teaching producers about new technology and practices. Stein is a five-time team recipient of AgriLife Extension’s highest employee honor, the Superior Service Award.
Course will involve explaining the purpose of grafting while doing a live demonstration of how to do an” inlay”, “four flap” and “t” budding graft with on hand example and accompanied by power point presentation.
- Gary Poole is the Conservation and Adult Programs Specialist at San Antonio Botanical Gardens, and is a Master Naturalist. Using real world examples of Botanical Gardens use of water conservation, Gary will teach you how to be water savvy and still have an amazing garden!> This event is free and open to the public!
